Immigration Practice Areas

We help clients across Chicago, the suburbs, and nationwide with many different immigration matters. Whether you want to bring a family member to the United States, apply for a green card, renew a work permit, or explore your options, we provide clear, step-by-step guidance. All services can be handled by phone, Zoom, email, and secure document upload — no office visit required.

Family Immigration

Family immigration allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to sponsor certain relatives so they can live in the United States legally. We help with petitions for spouses, parents, children, and other qualifying family members. This includes gathering the right documents, explaining what evidence is needed, and guiding you through the entire process.

Green Cards

A green card allows someone to live and work permanently in the United States. We assist people applying through Adjustment of Status (AOS) if they are already inside the U.S., and through consular processing if they must complete the interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad. We help with the family petition, forms, supporting documents, and any requests for more information from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Work Permits

A work permit, officially called an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), allows someone to work legally in the United States while another immigration case is pending. We help clients apply for or renew a work permit based on situations such as Adjustment of Status, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), U-Visas, and other categories. We explain what documents are needed and how long the process typically takes.

Naturalization & Citizenship

Becoming a U.S. citizen through naturalization is an important milestone. We assist with the N-400 citizenship application, review your immigration history to identify any concerns, and help you prepare for your USCIS interview and civics test. Our goal is to make the journey to citizenship clear and manageable.

Employment-Based Immigration

Employment-based immigration options help foreign workers or professionals come to the U.S. for jobs or career opportunities. We assist with visas such as:

  • H-1B: specialty occupations requiring a degree

  • TN: for certain professionals from Canada and Mexico

  • O-1: for individuals with extraordinary ability in fields like the arts, sciences, athletics, or business

  • L-1: for employees transferring from international branches of the same company

  • PERM: the first step in certain employer-sponsored green card processes

We help ensure your forms and evidence are complete, accurate, and strong.

Humanitarian Programs

Humanitarian immigration options protect people who have survived danger, abuse, or serious hardship. We assist with:

  • VAWA (Violence Against Women Act): for survivors of abuse by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident spouse, parent, or child

  • U-Visa: for victims of certain crimes who helped or are willing to help law enforcement

  • T-Visa: for survivors of human trafficking

  • Humanitarian Parole: for urgent situations where someone needs temporary permission to enter or remain in the U.S.

  • Temporary Protected Status (TPS): for people from countries affected by conflict or natural disaster

We approach these cases with sensitivity, privacy, and care.

Waivers (I-601 & I-601A)

Some people cannot get a visa or green card without a waiver. Waivers can help fix issues such as past unlawful presence, certain misrepresentations, or other complications in someone’s immigration history.

We assist with:

  • I-601 Waiver: filed from outside the U.S. in many situations

  • I-601A Provisional Waiver: filed from inside the U.S. to reduce time spent abroad during the final interview

We help determine eligibility, gather strong supporting evidence, and prepare your filing carefully.

FOIA Requests & Case Reviews

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request allows you to obtain copies of your immigration records from USCIS, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Department of State, or other agencies. This is helpful if you’ve lost old documents, are unsure about your immigration history, or want a second opinion. We assist with FOIA requests and provide case reviews to help you understand your options before moving forward.

Other Immigration Matters

Every situation is different. If your case does not fit neatly into a category, we will listen to your story and help you figure out the best path forward. Many immigration cases are unique, and we are committed to giving you honest, practical guidance.
